The Cornish American Heritage Society (CAHS) connects Cornish descendants who are interested in exploring and discovering their cultural identity.
The Cornish American Heritage Society embodies unity and kinship.
The CAHS is a community oriented society with a genuine passion for heritage. Desiring to grab the attention of new members, the CAHS felt that their branding didn’t reflect their values, was inconsistent, and needed a modern approach that would embody the principles that made the society so unique.
A cohesive narrative.
Timber was asked to create an updated brand identity that reflected the CAHS history and values to help create consistency across platforms, generate engagement, and garner new members.

Unbroken bonds, heritage and togetherness.
The customized Celtic knot takes its’ inspiration from the ‘Sailors Celtic Knot’ as Cornwall is known for its gorgeous coastline and history of seafaring. The meaning of the original Sailors Knot is “a bond that cannot be broken” and was an important symbol of unity in Cornish culture.
A tribute to natural beauty.
Timber carefully researched what made Cornwall special in order to develop the supporting color palette. We concentrated on the natural elements that set the country apart such as their coastline, mining history, and wildlife while maintaining an aged and historic tonal value.
The importance of typecasting.
The primary font eludes to historic blackletter script in a contemporary and expressive way. Paired with a humanist sans serif typeface designed for an inviting appearance, the communication becomes characteristic of the society while maintaining legibility and functionality.
